Definition: A promise is an undertaking to provide something or meet a commitment on demand.

And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. (Acts 3:2-7 KJV)

Peter here command the healing based on what he had . The question is what was it that he had?
From what we discussed so far particularly on Thursday, within the spirit of every born again Christian is the same power that raised Christ from the dead ( Eph,1:17-20, John14:12, Mark 16:16-18, Rom.8;11, Acts 1:8) and the authority that comes with the name of  Jesus Christ ( Matt. 28:18-20, Phil. 2:9-11). The difference is Peter knew he had access to these and how to use it by faith.

He knew that the power was his to command by faith in the name of Jesus, so he could draw on it. He did not need to ask God to heal the man because God already gave Him the tools. It's like a man who needs electric power to flow in his house either to cook or give light, except he knows that the switch is at his command, he would be calling the Electric power company to supply when what he actually needs to do is turn the switch on. To be appropriate. the power is not  his own but its under Peter  command.

In ministering healing we need to lay hold on the power  in our spirit by faith, believing in what God as promised, not ask God to do what He ask us to do.

When I first found this out, I was reluctant to accept or try it because it is so counter culture. I was worried about what people would say especially in the modern day church. But it makes so much sense to me and as I moved in this direction God honoured His word. This is particularly rewarding when you are ministering healing to yourself (there are several reasons why this is so).

For example,
if you want healing for say Diabetes Mellitus. The approach should be to command the diabetic disease to leave, then demand the pancreas be healed or come alive or restored in the name of Jesus.

Yes I know it sounds simple, but I can assure you not necessary easy (However this is the basic approach). This has to be based on your knowing the things we talked about before because faith is based on knowledge

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:31, 32 KJV)

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17 KJV)

Faith however is governed by spiritual laws! By the grace of God we will spend the first part of the next session of Healing Academy dealing with this.
