For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6 KJV)

That's a good question. Like your words, your thoughts will either lead to healing or sickness. In fact you can't get healed thinking sick and you can't stay sick thinking healed. This is particularly important in long term sickness, you will have to change your thoughts if you are going to manifest the healing. (There is a lot to this and I'm tempted to delve deep, but capsules have got to be small enough to swallow).

The scripture above says the content of your mind decides the direction of your life. Your mind has the ability to express carnality ( i.e. of the five senses) and when it does that, death is the reward. In case you don't know sickness and disease are death in SLOW MOTION.
On the other hand your mind can express spirituality and thereby release Life. When this happens it overcomes sickness and disease.

Your mind is flexible, it will process whatever you feed it with, you have to train it.
Those who have long term illness, after sometime have a fixed picture of themselves in their mind, the think sick, eat sick, live sick and even when they dream they see themselves sick with all the physical limitations. Except they change this image, effecting divine healing and maintaining it will be difficult .

How do I do this I hear you ask? By renewing your mind I say (Romans 12:2 ). You can teach your mind to think right, it takes a conscious effort, but yes it can be done. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 equips you to do that. This is probably one of the biggest struggle you will ever face, but it is doable and well worth it. If you don't like what is in your mind, change it. literally FORCE IT. Philippians 4:8.

The word meditation and worry describe the same process but different focus. When you meditate like bible says, you are giving attention to the word of God and the reward is life. When you worry you are giving attention to the negative.
