And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” - Mark‬ ‭11:21-25 ‭KJV‬‬

This is a continuation of capsules 38 and 39, for a full understanding you will need to go back and study those two if you are to flow with it even if you've been tracking with me. I am spending quite some space in discussing 'prayer to change things' hoping that if we have a good grasp of the dynamics we would not fall prey to the 'prayer merchants' that always seek to exploit the ignorant (Ephesians 4:14, 2 Timothy 3:6). Let me repeat it, the primary purpose of prayer is to fellowship with God and know Him, this cannot be over stressed (John 17:3). It will save you a lot of time once you come to appreciate this, your need to pray for things will decrease exponentially the more you fellowship with God ( there are several reasons for this, unfortunately we do not have space to discuss them).

Back to our discussion using Luke 4:36, Mark 4:39-41 and Mark 11:21-25. To recap, when you are praying to effect a change you must do it in full awareness of the authority and power you have in Christ, secondly, it is your responsibility to speak directly to the situation. It does not matter what it is. Do not ask God to do it for you, He has already delegated the power and authority to you (Genesis 1:26-28, Mark 16:17-18, Matthew 16:19). We started on the dynamics in capsule 39 where Christ took the disciples through the masterclass in Mark 11:21-25. Christ attested to the simplicity of the process by the prefix 'verily or truly' and we know what happened was not exclusively to Christ because He said, ' whosoever ' or 'anybody '. The next few steps are crucial and I would encourage you to follow carefully.

Five times between verses 23 and 24 , Christ emphasised the need to speak or address by speech directly whatever it is you want changed. He did not ask you to think about it, but to speak directly to it. In other words your desire must be audible, well articulated in words and have a focus. In this instance it was the mountain, it could as well be cancer or hypertension, diabetes or an empty/red bank balance. The reason for this is simple, words are the vehicle that conveys the power and authority from your born again spirit. Remember in John 6:63, Christ said '“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”. Until you say it, you have not released the power backed by the authority in the name of Jesus. That is why the centurion in Luke 7:7 asked Christ to 'say in a word and my servant shall be healed'. Words are the vehicles that convey authority and power. Proverbs 18:21, shows that with words you can kill and with words you can give life. Everything comes into being and is set in motion by faith filled words (Hebrews 11:3).

Secondly, note the phrase 'and shall not doubt in his heart '. This means your words are only as good as what is in your spirit (heart). In other words you need to have the revelation knowledge of the authority and power in your born again spirit for your words to be meaningful. Salvation only comes when you confess what you believe in your heart (Romans 10:9-10). You need to believe and have an expectation of result firmly rooted in your heart and mind for the words you speak to convey the power and authority necessary for performance. That is why two individuals can say the same thing but get different results.

In this passage you will notice that Christ curse the fig tree, however in His explanation He used the mountain as the object of discussion. The mountain just signifies the obstacle that you want removed, it does not matter what it is. You can apply it to sickness, disease, poverty, demonic oppression, pain, occupational failure, lack of productivity, confusion, the list is endless. In the reverse you can command life with your words, You can quicken or give life to a hopeless situation (John 6:63). For example you can curse cancer, command it to die, then follow up by speaking healing and life to the tissue, commanding it to become vibrant 'death and life are in power of your tongue' (Proverbs 18:21)
