GOD'S PILL 2015: CAPSULE 46

GOD HAS GIVEN ALL THAT YOU NEED FOR LIFE AND GODLINESS:
SO WHY PRAY? PART 4

DOCTRINE OF THE LAYING OF HANDS FOR MINISTRATION OF HEALING
OR PROTECTION

“They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭KJV

I would like to start by thanking everyone for your support and encouragement, I thank God and am indebted to Him for salvation and comfort of the spirit, revelation of the mysteries and assurance of hope. We introduced the Temperature and Pulse check last week as part of the progressive development to God's pill and to the glory of God it received a warm reception, some even said it was long overdue, there it is (Mark 1:45).

As a reminder we are discussing Prayer, and as I said at the beginning , my intention is not to be exhaustive or traditional in approach. We are looking to add to what you already know and or present a different perspective, something to make you think and become more effective. Like I have said in the past everything that I teach against, I have done in the past myself, but thank God I know better now (Isaiah 28:9-11). In capsule 45 we started on the doctrine of LAYING ON OF HANDS. The origin is in the OT, but this has two main applications in the NT

1. Affirmation or Confirmation of Calling during ordination
2. To effectively minister healing or protection

Please refer to Capsule 45 for the first part. In Mark 16:17-18, five cardinal signs are listed as hallmarks of a believer, the last on the list is '.......they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover '. In other words if you are a believer (notice it did not say Pastor, Apostle, Reverend etc), just a standard, properly born again believing Christian, if you lay hands on the sick they should recover. But to do it effectively you need knowledge. When you lay hands on the sick, what you are doing is transmitting spiritual healing or anointing for healing or virtue from your own spirit into their body where the sickness is (Matthew 8:3). The interesting thing is that the person who is sick can also initiate this process, what is important is a willingness to the demand made. The typical example is the lady with the issue of blood in Mark 5. Laying of hands is purely a spiritual act and some level of faith is needed between the person ministering the healing and the recipient.

In Mark 5, Christ was walking through a crowd, so it's reasonable to assume that many people were making physical contact with Him, but it was only the woman with the issue of blood that made the necessary spiritual connection by faith. This should show you that its definitely more than making physical connection. The best analogy is when you jump start a flat battery with another, the function of the cable is to carry the current from the live, vibrant battery to the flat battery. Exactly the same thing happens when you lay hands. To be effective this has got to be deliberate and you need to 'command' the healing to flow. How can you do that? I hear you say! Yes you can and should!

“For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭5:28-30‬ ‭KJV‬

In Mark 5:28-30, if you read it carefully, you will see that the lady command the healing to flow. The passive cooperation of Christ is assumed (Luke 4:18, Acts 10:38), so please do not go about grabbing people without their permission or consent. Mark 8:22-25, is another good example, Christ laid hands on the man twice for good measure. Lastly, it is important to stress that the passage in Mark 16:18 says '.... they shall recover' meaning future tense. When you lay hands on someone for healing and you have done it properly, it is important to know that the healing anointing has been transmitted and is at work. The result can be instantaneous, but on occasion the physical manifestation might take some time. It is important to stand in faith and not back down, even if you have to do it more than once as long as you are not invalidating the original process, it is ok. Secondly, it really does not matter whether the recipient falls down or not. I have seen cases where people fall and it was all emotional, nothing has actually happened, and other instances where there is no emotional outpouring but great things followed. I have found it more effective to anchor this process with the spoken word, after all the word is the seed!

CONCLUSION
WE SHALL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK AND THEY SHALL RECOVER
