(Part 1)

“He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” Ecclesiastes 10:8 KJV

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I would like to express my appreciation for your patience and tenacity up till now. As promised in the last two capsules of this series I will be proffering answers to nagging questions (I have been there too). If indeed we are TRULY BLESSED, BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVOURED, BLESSED BEYOND A CURSE, why is it that we struggle and live like mere men? Why is it some Christians still operate under curses? In an attempt to answer these questions, I have heard a lot of explanations which to me are at best unscriptural and fan the fire of fear instead of the flame of faith and love. I intend to present my case and sincerely hope this would help. I cannot over emphasise the importance of the next two capsules (what gets us into trouble is not what we know, but what we don't know but think we know, there is a balance to everything in life). We would start with the basic principles and I would show you the application in the next capsule.

I believe the above two scriptural passages, Ecclesiastes 10:8 and Romans 6:16, offer great insight. Everything we have shared so far hinges on the understanding that you are in Christ spiritually and a conscious effort to maintain this position (Jude 1:3). I will give you a crude analogy, for instance if you travel from Lagos to New York by flight, at any point in the journey you are flying. The reason you are able to do that is because you are in the plane and smart enough to stay there. The plane is actually the thing that is flying by exercising the Laws of Thrust and Lift, so Gravity has no effect on you. If you venture outside the plane you are no longer under the protection of the Laws of Thrust and Lift, so Gravity takes over and you drop like a stone. In the physical nobody will leave the comfort and security inside the plane and venture out , so why would you do that in the spiritual? (Galatians 5:1).

Now look a Ecclesiastes 10:8, it says if you break the hedge, the serpent will bite. This tells you that the reason the serpent have access to you is because of your action......'you broke the hedge '. Unfortunately, many Christians break the hedge for several reasons, but most times because of ignorance and wrong actions, then unwittingly allow a curse into their lives from outside. By implication the snake can only come in if you allow it. The same way, you must maintain your position in Christ and avoid room for any curse, since it cannot go through Christ for all the reasons we discussed in Capsules 10 and 11.....simple?

The second scripture, Romans 6:16, is saying the same thing but more explicitly. If you yield yourself to sin, you become the servant of sin and sin will lead to death or allow the entrance of curse . 1 Corinthians 15:56 says 'the sting that leads to death is sin', so don't mess about with sin. The opposite happens when you yield to righteousness. What I would like you to note in these two passages is that for a born again Christian you are directly responsible for what happens. Let me put it another way, no curse can find entrance into your life if you do not allow it by your action or inaction (Proverbs 26:2). This is key if you are to live BLESSED BEYOND A CURSE.

These two scriptures are so key and form the foundation of any breach of protection from curse. You see that for a Christian both are self inflicted problems, it weakens your immunity and cause unnecessary exposure to curses from outside in. Once you understand this, you can always use it as the plumb line to judge your actions. I will show you the practical applications in the next capsule, they are subtle but rife in the body but also identifiable and to a large extent avoidable so that you can keep the hedge up and curses out!
