“For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.” James 2:13KJV

Praise God for a glorious day, He gives us victory all the time. We have been on this series for a while and my sincere desire is that you should by now be experiencing changes, they are real practical steps in the right direction. The sixth and current principle appear to have been a challenge to most, hence it has taken up 3 capsules. This topic of forgiveness needs to be properly understood.. In capsule 23, I showed you the challenge or extent of damage it can cause you, in other words the 'DISEASE'. We started on the 'CURE' for the disease in capsule 24. A simple way of knowing whether you are walking in it is if you're able to extend it (forgiveness) when it is not deserved. In fact, the ability to extend forgiveness shows you have come to grasp with the first six principles. People who feel hurt easily or have difficulty forgiving even when it is not deserved are not yet secure in the love of God, period! This is the litmus test. Always remember that God is your source, your ONLY source; He anticipated your need and made provision before the need arose; The supply is far greater than the need; You have all the supply in your spirit; Faith draws out what God has provided in your spirit by Grace, So you are blessed to be a blessing, hence There is never a good reason to hold grudges!

If you properly understand capsules 23 and 24, then the next step is not difficult, get a grip of that reality first (Matthew 12:35). In Matthew 18:15-17, Christ described the steps you should take in resolving this issue when you belong to the same congregation or when you can make contact. The approach is simple, speak with the person alone first , if this does not work, go with somebody you both respect, if you are still not getting through, bring it to the attention of the leadership, simple. If we follow this steps things will workout alright. Avoid the temptation of venting and spewing your bitterness with friends and colleagues before contacting the person, it might make you feel better temporarily, but for all sorts of reasons, it compounds the problem in the long run. The key that make approach work, is to have already forgiven before the contact. You are not asking them to earn it, this makes it possible to forgive even those who you cannot make contact with for whatever reason (they may be dead) or those who rebuff your approach .

Be not overcome of evil, overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 KJV

I have kept this part of the discussion to the last, because it is a touchy subject, but I pray God will give you understanding because a lot hinges on it. If you get hurt easily, if you struggle with extending forgiveness, it's a sure fire evidence that your faith in God is suspect. Remember in Luke 17 that we previously referred to, the disciples demonstrated this very same thought. Romans 12:19-21, admonishes you to allow God to vindicate and not to take matters into your own hands. People who struggle with extending forgiveness do not believe that God can handle the situation, hence their reaction. You can sugar coat all you want, if you believe that promise then forgiveness will not be a struggle. Act 7, Stephen had to ask God not to hold the action against those that stoned him to death because he realised what was in store for them if he did not intervene. Lastly, a proper understanding of the first six principles makes you realise that it is not within the gift of anyone to do you harm, they may try but your life is hid with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17).

We would look at the eighth principle next.
