“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”
James 1:5-6 KJV

There is nothing as satisfying as seeing your prayer answered. Let me rephrase that, 'there is nothing as satisfying as seeing your prayer answered and knowing that it was not just happenstance or coincidence!'. The difference between the two is huge, everybody sees their prayer answered once in a while. What we all want is to see things come to pass when we pray with increasing frequency and I can assure you that this is possible because God is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11, Acts 10:34). As I study the word, the more obvious it is that we have complicated what God made simple, we have covered what God has revealed (Ephesians 1:9). The spiritual is governed by laws, nothing has changed, it is not emotional. The difference is finding out these laws and 'enforcing' them. I see this much more in the area of healing, we ask and beg God to heal us or somebody else, not knowing that all the healing power is already available in your spirit waiting to be released into your body (Romans 8:10-11). Let me illustrate this, I recently returned from my travels and met a part of my house in darkness despite the fact that I turned on the switch. I knew the problem was not with the power supply company because despite the darkness, I was sure that they have fulfilled their part of the equation. I also knew that the problem was in that part of the house. Once I identified the fuse and changed it, light came. I did not have to beg or plead with the power company, I dealt with my 'RECEIVER' and commanded the power to flow (by turning on the switch) ........HAVE! This analogy sounds simplistic but you need to grasp these basics otherwise you will struggle. In essence, God fulfilled His part of the deal 2000 years ago with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. What we need to do is find out what is available and how to access it. I will show you in this capsule (This capsule is fairly long, but necessary).

To recap we are discussing reasons why Matthew 7:7-8, Luke 11:8-9, might be at variance with your experiences. I have titled it answers to that nagging question, so far we have considered five, I would like to end with this one to avoid making this series too long. Nobody can teach you everything they know and even if they did, that is not all that is there to know. In this capsule we would look at wisdom. Three things go together in this order, Knowledge, Understanding and WISDOM. Most people define wisdom as 'Right application of knowledge' but I think a better definition is 'Ability to profit from your knowledge'. Think about it, of what use is your knowledge and understanding if it does not lead to profitability? (2 Timothy 3:16-17). In the example I gave above, I knew that there was power in my house, I had a bit of understanding of how things work, but all that was theory until I profited from that knowledge and understanding.

In the study of the word there are four notable types of wisdom. The first is natural wisdom, this is freely available to all (1 Corinthians 1:17). Secondly, there is demonic wisdom, according to James 3:15, you really don't want that. Thirdly, there is 'word of wisdom', which is a gift of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8). The fourth type which I would like to discus is 'Divine Wisdom'. (1Corinthians 2:6-7). Paul in his prayer for the Ephesians church, chapter 1:8,17, saw this as the key to unlocking the power of God that was already in them, similarly in Colossians 1:9. Despite the fact that God has revealed the mystery of His will we need this wisdom to unlock things because no two situations are ever the same. But the good news is that Christ in us is the perfect wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:30). Imagine it, you have the wisdom of the One who spoke the universe into being on the inside of you on tap.

Our index scripture says (my paraphrase), when you get to certain point in your asking and it appears you are not receiving, what you need is this divine wisdom. God has made this provision to overcome both seen and unseen obstacles. You need to make a demand on this wisdom and be single minded about it. It is not something you try to see whether it will work, it is something you do until you get an answer, period! James 1:7, says if you waver in your asking for this wisdom, you will not receive, it is that simple.

“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”
1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:” 1 Corinthians 2:7 KJV

The question I get asked often is how do you draw on this wisdom? Consider the above scriptures. Scripture A: When you pray in unknown tongue, you are speaking to God directly, spirit to Spirit. In other words you are speaking mysteries.
Scripture B :These mysteries are actually the hidden wisdom of God reserved for us from the very beginning. In other words when you pray in unknown tongue, you are making a demand on the wisdom of God, similar to what happens when you are downloading on a computer (This is just one of the things that happens when you speak in an unknown tongue, there is much more). Your spirit is communicating with the Spirit of God, accessing all the wisdom required to overcome any hindrance so that when you ask, you receive, seek you find, knock it is open! What a great privilege. I am certain that this is what Paul described in Romans 8:25-27, "But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."

My greatest joy is to see people learn the simplicity of the truth in God's word and see them walk free. We have been given so much, bought by the highest price; the sacrifice of Christ. Unfortunately, most have allowed this to be corrupted by tradition and unnecessary, meaningless, religious calisthenics (Colossians 2:8, 16-18). What we have shared needs to become living concepts, please go through the scriptural references, personalise them and see things change in your life. I pray you have learnt something from this series and it is settled in you that 'Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it it shall be opened. For EVERYONE that ask, receives.......

The next capsule will be TEMPERATURE AND PULSE CHECK, for this series. Again I owe a debt of gratitude to all my partners who have been generous enough to link each edition of God's Pill with your social media sites. I am grateful, God will reward you. “But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”
James 3:14-16 KJV

I sincerely hope you are finding this teachings useful and usable, they have the potential to change your lives. In the last capsule, I made a statement that 'because something is good does not make it godly for you'. This seems to have caused some reaction amongst readers of MinDGyM, hence it deserves some more explanation. This is particularly important if you are to avoid 'wrong motive, wrong agenda'. Let's look at lessons from a familiar bible story. In Genesis 26, there was severe famine similar to what Abraham experienced in his time. This led to a wave of economic migration to Egypt. There are two sound and logical reasons for this migration. Unlike every other place then, the River Nile kept Egypt fertile, and moreover Isaac had the past experience of his father to fall back on. These were two great indicators that made Egypt a GOOD choice for many people, right? But guess what, it was not godly for Isaac, because God said no. I hope you get the picture? If he had gone, he probably would have survived the famine but miss out big time on what God had in store for him. The sad part is that, he would not have known what he missed. Remember Isaac operated under an inferior covenant, he didn't have the great benefit of the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit, yet he could hear God........enough said.

For those who are joining us for the first time, we are discussing 'Answers to that nagging question: Why am I not getting the results promised in Matthew 7:7-8, Luke 11:8-9'. So far we have dealt with 'Making the main thing the main thing', 'Don't ask for things outside the New Covenant provisions', 'Allow patience to perfect the work', and in the last capsule, we discussed the hindrance 'Wrong motive; Wrong agenda'. In this capsule let's consider the double-barrelled 'Envying and Strife'. This, in my estimation is the most difficult to correct, many people find it easy to justify strife (aka contention, selfish ambition) not knowing that it's a hindrance to receiving.

Our Index scripture is quite instructive, (paraphrased), James 3:14, says 'don't justify it when you have bitter envying and strife in your heart'. There is never any reason or excuse for bitter envying and strife, never! The way people justify it is to say ' I am only human, I can't help it!'. No you are not only human, one third of you, the real you has the same spiritual DNA as the resurrected Christ. Verse 15, says ' justifying bitter envying and strife is demonic or devil inspired'. Verse 16 tells you the reason why. Confusion and every evil work (that is all evil work) thrive where there is envying and strife.

This is similar to 'wrong motive, wrong agenda', but it is actually different. This is more destructive, in that once it takes root it's like a weed, getting rid of it is never easy. Secondly, it is found in the leadership and among the gifted (Philippians 1:15-16, 2:3). It is sometimes called ruthless aggression or ambition. There are so many reasons why this is a hindrance to asking and receiving, seeking and finding, knocking with the door open. Most of the reasons are probably obvious but I think the reason for this is most times misunderstood.

This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
James 3:15

Take time to consider the above scripture that explains the source or inspiration behind this hindrance, It then becomes obvious why. But let me show you the logic (please pay close attention). When James 3:15 is in operation, it means you have ignored everything we have discussed from Capsule 34-40, 2016. Secondly, bitter envying and confusion have set in according to James 3:16. Now with this in mind, I want you to consider two key scriptures, James 1:17 and 1 Corinthians 14:33. Got it ?

I know I have made you think more than usual in this capsule, but that is the whole purpose of MinDGyM, to get you to think and not just react, to detox your mind. Please go through over and again until you can see it. In medical parlance, this is what we call a 'SLOW-RELEASE' capsule. In closing, I would like to make an observation that on the surface it appears controversial and I agree it is, but I also think it is true. This might be the reason why some Leaders and gifted people struggle with their health and at times meet with untimely death (Galatians 5:15).

There is much more to discuss, however we would look at one more hindrance in the next capsule and bring these series to a close.
I wish to express my gratitude to all those who help spread the word to a wider audience by linking the capsule to your social media sites, God is your reward.

“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:3 KJV

We have spent the last six capsules discussing: Answers to some nagging questions that would crop up because of the promise in Matthew 7:7-8, Luke 11:8-9. This promise is not limited to these two passages, in fact this is the norm throughout the scriptures, more so in the New Covenant. Despite this, virtually everybody I know (including yours truly) have experiences that on occasions run counter to what is promised. We know the word of God is true and has the power to deliver exactly what it says, so the question arises 'Why am I not getting the desired result as promised?'. We cannot wish this away and if not attended to, it could lead to frustration or worse still some lose faith and start "looking somewhere else" for succour. So far, we considered 'Making the main thing, the main thing', 'Don't ask for things outside the New Covenant provisions' and lastly, 'The perfect work of patience'. I hope most of the things discussed are now obvious and usable, we must never complicate what God has made simple (2 Corinthians 11:3)

In the beginning of this series, I pointed out the uniqueness of the Epistle general of James. The fourth reason that answers the nagging question is found in Chapter 4:3 which says, if you are asking with the sole purpose of satisfying your lust, then you are missing the point and will not receive or if you ask motivated by lust, you will not receive, simple! (my paraphrase).

Before we continue, I would like to point out that this letter was written to born again Christians, not unbelievers. If LUST as a motive invalidates your asking it makes sense to take a closer look. The Greek word translated as lust or pleasures here is the word 'hedone', it appears only five times in the New Testament, it is from the same word we get hedonism. Again, can I remind you that this admonition was written to Christians! As it was then so it is now.

“You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires.” James 4:3 AMP

Let's consider why this is a hindrance to Asking and Receiving. Lust here, means you consider self gratification as the superior goal, over and above all. It is more than just simple pleasure, it has become what you live for. This is the definition of carnality, meaning you are devoid of inputs from your born again spirit, you are not getting any guidance from the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:9-16). The implication of this is that you are operating under the same influence as people without God. This sounds so strong but it has subtly taken hold and put down root in churches. I can give different examples, but for confidentiality, I wouldn't. Because something appears good does not make it godly for you. We all to different degrees, don't make this mistake, the key is 'check what is the drive before you ask.' The bottom line is John 4:24, 'God is a Spirit, those that worship Him, MUST worship Him in spirit and truth' .

“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:7-8 KJV

James 4:1-2, gives the background to the conclusion why LUST as motive will hinder your receiving, it is self explanatory. If Hebrews 11:6 is the thesis for pleasing God, then Romans 8:7-8 is the perfect antithesis. If your asking does not lead to receiving, this is one area to consider. There is much more to say but let us close with these two thoughts.

Always check whether there is a witness in your spirit that this is the right thing for you (nobody can really teach you how to do this, you just have to learn to trust God) Romans 8:16, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalms 37:4.

Secondly, let the peace of God be the umpire that rules your heart in this process. If your heart is disturbed, and you seem to lose your peace over the matter, it's a cautionary sign (Isaiah 32:17, Colossians 3:15, Philippians 4:6-7). With all these being said, the only way it works is if you make the main thing, the main thing.

“No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.” ‭‭Mark‬ 2:21-22 ‭KJV‬‬

We are considering the third reason in answering that question 'Why am I not getting the results as promised in Matthew 7:7-8 and Luke 11:8-9'. The first two are 'Making the main thing, the main thing' and 'Don't ask for anything outside the New Covenant provisions'. We would conclude the third reason 'Allow Patience to perfect the work' in this capsule by making a practical application of some of the things we learnt about the work of PATIENCE, (This is a fairly long capsule, but it is worth it). Before we do, I would like to share a recent experience. I visited one of our MinDGyM partners who has had repeated health problems. Using the same principles that we have shared in God's Pills I prayed with him on the first two previous occasions and the health problems were resolved almost immediately. But this time around I decided to take a passive role. I wanted to find out why he couldn't get the same result on his own, so I asked him to pray while I listened. After listening to him pray, I could see immediately what the problem was. He was mixing the Old and New Covenant, he could not see the difference, he was confusing his own mind, in other words he was double minded (Unfortunately I see this very often, a very common problem). You cannot mix the two, the New Covenant does not compliment the Old Covenant, It is a more perfect replacement , the Old Covenant was temporary and no longer operative, it is dead and buried (Galatians 3:23-25, Hebrews 8:13.) I showed him this and he redirected his prayer. That same day the symptoms disappeared, the result of ultrasound done the next day came back clear (the results might not be as instantaneous as this all the time , but the principle is the same). He was thrilled, but the lessons here are:

1. God is no respecter of man.

2.The spiritual is governed by laws which can be taught.

3. You must transition from the Old to the NEW COVENANT, this must become a living concept. He did not need to fast, or use anointing oil, it was not a long prayer, probably lasted less than five minutes. What took time was the teaching and the willingness to learn. With all these being said, I was baffled how somebody who had followed all the capsules still had this distorted mindset. There is always a great attraction to revert to the Old Covenant. It is emotional satisfying but unproductive, it must be resisted, and nobody can do it for you (Luke 5:36-39). Now as promised let's consider the practical applications using a story from the Old Testament. I have chosen this story to demonstrate Matthew 7:7-8, and the difference between the Old and New Covenant saints

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” - ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In Daniel Chapter 9, starting from verse one, he decided to ask God why the captivity in Babylon was lasting longer than seventy years as prophesied by Jeremiah . While he was still praying in verse 23, Angel Gabriel showed up with the answer. The Angel confirmed that God gave the answers IMMEDIATELY Daniel asked, but the answer manifested that evening. This demonstrates 'Ask, God Gives, you Receive and then you Have', all within the same day! PATIENCE was hardly noticeable in this instance, just one day. In chapter 10, The same Daniel prayed again and fasted. On this occasion it took twenty one days before the manifestation of the answer, however in chapter 10 verse 12, the Angel confirmed that God gave the answer from the first day, just like He did in chapter 9. On this occasion from RECEIVING to HAVING lasted twenty one days (On this occasion WORK OF PATIENCE lasted 21 days). God was not the variable, He gave from the first day just like in chapter 9, and it was not NO or WAIT or MAYBE. So what happened? You will recall that I said most answers are lost between RECEIVING and HAVING. In other words the fact that you did not have the answer is no proof that God did not give, He is faithful (2 Corinthians1:20). In the case of Daniel, the delay was as a result of demonic hindrance which he was not aware of and even if he knew the reason for the delay, he could not do anything about it other than wait.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” - ‭‭James‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There are a lot of things we could learn from this story, however let us focus on three important points from the perspective of New Covenant. The first is that God has already GIVEN. This is of crucial importance because it removes the element of doubt. Yes, you could still ask but in reality He has released everything that we need for life and godliness through the death, burial, resurrection and atonement of Christ.

The second point is that, unlike Daniel, you have the advantage of finding out what is causing the delay when the answer is not forthcoming. Christ said the Holy Spirit will guide us into ALL truths and show us things to come. James 1:5, says if you lack wisdom, ask God, you don't need to be passive (Capsules 47-49, 2015 goes into greater detail of what to do). In the case of Daniel, he could do nothing but wait it out, but not so for us. Lastly, unlike Daniel we have power and authority over demonic influences in the name of Jesus. Here is a great truth, in fact it is a spiritual law 'Don't ask God to do for you, what He has given you power and authority to do'. This is so important, but often missed. It is so important that you understand these differences between the old and NEW COVENANT otherwise you will struggle. If God reveals to you demonic hindrance as the cause of delay, it is your responsibility to break it in the name of Jesus. This is particularly important when others are involved in the process (Satan will always look for the weakest link). We have tremendous privileges in Christ but they come with great responsibilities. You are the one to RESIST the devil, by commanding him to take his hand off, you do this based on the Authority and Power in the name of Jesus (Mark 11:22, James 4:7). I cannot over emphasise this. In closing this teaching, I have seen people take authority over 'Prince of Persia', the demonic influence in Daniel Chapter 10. Think about it for a moment, It was called Prince of Persia because of the geographical location, It is not of universal application, this ought to be obvious!

My prayer is that I have been able to communicate these truths with the intended simplicity. As we close on the third reason, if you would put to practice what we have learnt so far, I can guarantee you that increasingly, when you ask you will receive, if you seek you will find, when you knock, it will be opened in Jesus name, amen.

Again I would like to encourage you to link this with your social media sites, creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. Together we are more effective.

We would consider a few more reasons.
