GOD'S PILL 2017 : CAPSULE 11

IN HIS IMAGE, AFTER HIS LIKENESS, HIS DIVINE NATURE : THE SCRIPTURES PAINT THE IMAGE OF CHRIST

“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:25-27 KJV

As previously stated this is the last of a set of three series. The three series should be taken together just like the doctor would prescribe a course of medication. What we are about to discuss is so counterculture and for this reason I am asking you to have the patience to consider with a degree of open-mindedness to accept these truths and flexibility needed to change. Matthew 17:2, Revelation 1:3-6 describe the person of Christ without the hindrance of the flesh. What is more glorious is that, that is actually what the NEW CREATION looks like if we could somehow pull the veil of our flesh away and see the Hidden Man of the heart. I know that this is a staggering statement, but I firmly believe it is true and I intend to verify and validate it in this series. This goes to the very core of who we are, in fact it explains the unconditional love the Father has for us (not only sometimes, but all the time). We are in His Image, after His Likeness and have His Divine Nature in the truest sense, it is not metaphorical or allegorical. It is my desire to do my best with this pivotal concept, so we would consider things in a step-wise manner.

The first crucial point is that the whole of the Old Testament serves one primary purpose, to prepare the earth for the coming of Christ. In other words the Birth, Earthly ministry, Death, Resurrection and Second coming became the focus following first mention in Genesis 3:15.

That is why there are so many prophecies, types, patterns and shadows to explain the different facets of the redemption plan of God throughout the Old Testament. Every minute detail of the person of Christ and His ministry here on earth is covered in scripture. Some of these are so specific and dumbfounding that the Prophets themselves wonder whether people of their time would accept it as the word of God (Isaiah 53:1). One of the things I learned very early as a young Christian is that every book of the Old Testament, from Genesis to Malachi depicted and prophesied different aspects of Christ. It was not uncommon for some of our leaders in those days to display their knowledge of the bible using each book to picture Christ (Exodus:the deliverer, Leviticus: the Law Giver, Amos: the Burden bearer etc). Meaning that instinctively we can hear every book of the Old Testament screaming His Name, painting a picture and describing the IMAGE of Christ.

“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? Luke 24:25-26

The image of Christ is so vivid in the Old Testament, those that fail to see this were described spiritually as FOOLS and people of slow understanding (strong words), but that is what Christ called two of His disciples, when He met them on the way to Emmaus after His resurrection (Luke 24:25). He described them as clueless, because despite their familiarity with the scriptures and acquaintance with Him, they still could not connect the dots! until you are are able to see the image of Christ in the Old Testament, you will continually miss the point. This is the same problem the Pharisees had, they just could not see the IMAGE and person of Christ in the scriptures, even though they claim to hold it dear and see it as source of eternal life. In John 5:39, He challenged them to search the scriptures, because they testify of Him.

Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:26-27 KJV

When you are able to see the image of Christ in prophecy as in the scriptures, it then helps you to identify it clearly in its fulfilment as in the Gospels and Epistles (Colossians 2:17). You will be able to transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant because you can identify that which you saw as types, shadows and pattern in it's real manifestation. See what Christ said to those two disciples who were still stuck in their expectations, not knowing that it had already been fulfilled. Christ had to drag their imagination through and from the Old Testament ('Moses' refers to the first five books of the Old Testament) to the present, showing them what ought to have been obvious (Luke 24:26-27). I believe that one of the reasons John the Baptist was declared as the greatest of all the Old Covenant people was the fact that he could identify Christ from the scriptures (Matthew 11:11, John 1:29, 36). The image of Christ in the scriptures was etched into his consciousness, so that he could identify the manifestation. As we close let me give you a practical example.

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) says: (Prophecy)
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

1 Peter 2:24 KJV says: (Fulfilment)
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Can you see the difference? 'we are healed' and 'ye were healed'. There is still more to show you and we would continue in the next capsule. It is important you get this point because everything hinges on it.

CONCLUSION
THE SCRIPTURES DESCRIBE THE IMAGE OF CHRIST AND REDEMPTION PLAN OF GOD
