BLESSINGS AND MIRACLES
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” Ephesians 1:3 KJV
This is a series that would challenge the established and conventional, it is only fair that I should state that from the get-go. However if you are patient with me, open minded and flexible to the truth, it will expand your capacity for success. In the fourth capsule of 2016, I hinted at the difference between Blessings and Miracles, but promised to deal with it at a later date, this is it. There is a deep seated general misunderstanding of the difference between BLESSINGS and MIRACLES, in fact I would refer to it as muddled thinking. To unravel this, we would need to go into some basic teaching in this introduction before we consider right applications, but first, we need some working definitions.
Blessing: This is the intrinsic spiritual ability to prosper imparted by God or God's spoken favour over the life of an individual, it could also apply to a process or group of people. (Curse is the opposite)
Miracle: This is the supernatural suspension of the physical or natural laws by God to bring to pass a desired end.
When God created the earth (Physical world), He instituted natural laws to keep it in perpetuity to maintain order. For example, in Genesis chapter one, He created the sun to rule the day and the moon to rule the night, everything brings forth according to its kind. At this stage, He made no provision for suspension of any of these laws, there was no need. As a matter of fact, in Genesis 1:31 (my paraphrase), God's assessment was that everything (that is the function of the natural laws) was VERY GOOD, or perfect. There was no need to suspend what was perfect. God then created Adam into this perfection. So the question is what brought about the need for Miracles or suspension of these natural laws at times? (We would answer that later).
In Genesis 1:26-28, God created man. Remember that man is a Spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body. By implication, one third part of man is subject to these natural laws, however not the real man or the part of him that matters, the spirit.
In Genesis 1:22, God blessed every living thing, saying 'be fruitful and multiply'. This is the scope of the spoken favour of God over these natural laws that govern every living thing up to that point. However in Genesis 1:28, the scope of the blessing (that is God's spoken favour) over man is 'Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth'. In other words, natural laws are good but with the spoken favour of God over a man, these laws work better and become far enhanced in favour of an individual that is blessed. Blessings don't suspend natural laws but cause them to operate better. For a blessed man, natural laws yield exponential results.
“The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Proverbs 10:22 KJV
Proverbs 10:22, describes what we have been discussing. This is God's preferred pattern for an individual, process, or nation. Examples abound, from Abraham in Genesis 12, Isaac in Genesis 26, Jacob Genesis 27, or the Nation of Israel in Deuteronomy 28, we see this over and over again. The spoken favour of God, energising and enhancing the natural laws in the life of an individual making them work far better, (not opposing or suspending these laws). Lack of understanding of this basic precept is at the root of most of the problems faced by the modern Church. In fact, the 'nothing for something' culture that is so prevalent can be traced to the lack of understanding of this primary biblical concept.
Once you understand this order of things, it makes the Christian life far more productive and exciting, it will remove frustration. You will walk in divine health and healing, you will have freedom from lack and demonic control, in other words you will flourish. This is the way God designed it, this is His first and preferred pattern. This is the reason God always speaks His favour (blessing) over the chosen. The Church according to 1 Peter 2:9 is the chosen generation. Ephesians 1:3 says, we have been blessed with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. In the next capsule we would discuss this further to further verify this concept.
BLESSINGS REMOVE TOILING SO THAT THE NATURAL LAWS YIELD EXPONENTIALLY
This series will debunk a lot of commonly held views and straighten your thinking, it has changed mine. I will encourage you to give careful consideration to our discussion as we go along. Please always remember to link MinDGyM to your social media sites and follow us on @FBIMindgym
