“He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.”
Psalms 103:7 KJV

We are discussing BLESSINGS and MIRACLES. The whole purpose of the discussion is to show that they are not the same. The difference between them is not just superficial but fundamental to the way we walk with and receive from God. I know teachings like this are not particularly fashionable or trendy, but for those who really want to make progress as a New Creation it is imperative.

In the last capsule, we started looking at the differences between the two, once this is properly understood, effective application becomes simple (not necessarily easy). Psalms 103:7, gave us insight into the dividing line between those who know and those who don't. Those who expect to live by miracles all their lives, remain immature, spiritually retarded, require high maintenance and sooner or later become frustrated. As opposed to those who have learnt to walk in God's best...Blessings. This is what separates EAGLES from TURKEYS (Hebrews 5:12-14). We also noted that leaders who unwittingly encourage unhealthy dependence on miracles, need to be careful, because there are consequences to what we teach (Numbers20:12)

“And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.” Exodus14:10 KJV

The working definitions we gave in the first capsule is crucial to the discussion of the next difference. As a reminder, Blessing is the spoken favour of God over the life of an individual that makes the physical laws yield better results. Whereas miracles require suspension of the physical laws so that a desired end can be achieved (capsule 25, 2017). Crisis brings about the need for a miracle or for a miracle to occur you need a crisis. In Exodus chapter 14, the children of Israel had the Army of Pharaoh behind them, the Red Sea before them, mountains surrounding them, they could only look up, that was a perfect crisis. Crisis birth miracles, that was why God provided manna in the wilderness because starvation was the only other alternative (Exodus 16). Every time you see a Miracle it has been preceded by a crisis, take a close look from the parting of the Red Sea to this present day. The implication is that those who want to live constantly on miracles will move from one crisis to another. This is not sustainable, that is not the way the New Creation is supposed to live (Isaiah 32:17, Matthew 11:28)

On the other hand a proper understanding of Blessings and how to walk in them will prevent crisis. Remember that with blessings there is a synergy, that is producing effectively and efficiently more than the ordinary. Needs are anticipated and nullified by abundance. What ever you lay your hands on prosper, because there is a spoken favour over your life and you know it (Psalms 1:3, Ephesians 1:3). It might not be dramatic but it encourages stability and growth. Time is always working in your favour not against you, because what started as a seed becomes the harvest in time. With blessing the seed of everything you need is already in your 'born again' spirit, from divine health to material prosperity, all you need is the knowledge to deplore it (we would discuss this when we come to application). Whilst those who are Miracle dependent, are almost always focused on themselves, the blessed man is a blessing and help to others (Genesis 12:2).

Again the purpose of this series is to encourage growth and stability in our Christian walk. Everyone at one point or the other will require a Miracle, we live in a fallen world and we don't know as much as we ought to. So which ever way God brings your deliverance be grateful. We would explore the content of the series further in the next capsule.
