“He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.”
Psalms 103:7 KJV

For those who are just joining us, we are discussing the difference between Blessings and Miracles, with the intention of identifying God's preferred pattern. Understanding this will help mature you in your Christian walk and make life more productive and rewarding. For a full explanation, I would suggest you start from capsule 25, paying particular attention to our working definitions for Blessings and Miracles. In summary, those who are stuck on miracles remain immature, whereas the dynamics of blessings take you into deeper dimensions in the things of God. Crisis give birth to Miracles, whilst Blessings to a large extent will prevent crisis. Every Miracle is temporary, with an inbuilt expiry date, Blessings on the other hand are permanent, unending, producing more and more and can be passed from one generation to another .

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” Ephesians 1:3 KJV

In all our discussions, never lose sight of the truth that you are a New Creation, operating under a better covenant. We are not waiting to be Blessed, based on the complete work of redemption by Christ, we have the spoken favour of God that covers every aspect of life (Ephesians 1:3, 2 Peter 1:2-4). What we need is knowledge of how to put things in motion and get the best out of what is already ours. Unfortunately a lot of slogans, and gimmicks in the modern church have diluted this and led to muddled thinking. We would consider this in depth when we come to the application, for now let's take a look at a few more of the differences in this capsule.

“Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.” Numbers 23:20 KJV

Blessing when properly understood will prevent and even reverse a curse. Let me repeat that, Blessings are designed to prevent or reverse curses. In fact there is great danger for those who try to curse you. For some reason most Christians find this difficult to accept. However a quick study of Genesis 12:3, 27:29, and the curious story of Balaam and Balak in Numbers 22-24 should help correct your theology. A Blessed person would have to reject the operation of the blessing either intentionally or through ignorance for any curse to have a chance (Ecclesiastes 10:8). This truth is even more so for the New Creation, those who are in Christ. There is an impenetrable double shield around you (Colossians 3:3, Galatians 3:13). What you need to do is maintain a conscious awareness of your place in Christ, in your thought life, actions and words. This is the reason why a New Creation cannot afford to coast, continuously we must labour to enter into the rest of God (Hebrews 4:11).

This might surprise you, to a large extent, even in crisis the occurrence of Miracle is not guaranteed. There is a bit of unpredictability about miracles, there is danger staking everything on miracles. If you have been following the series this should be obvious, whereas the opposite is true for blessings. Blessings are spiritual seeds that are guaranteed to produce when activated based on divine knowledge. Imagine the confidence Jacob displayed in Genesis 30:27-34 or Abram in Genesis 13:9-11, and again in Genesis 14:21-23. There is that audacity, that quiet confidence that comes when you are blessed and you know it. This is where every New Creation should be, we have something far superior than these Old Covenant saints (Matthew 11:11, Hebrews 8:6-7). Lastly, there is a continuous abundance and variety that comes with Blessings that Miracles cannot match. God told the first Adam to be fruitful, multiply, subdue and have dominion! (Genesis 1:28). How do you match such variety? The New Creation is Blessed with ALL spiritual blessings in Christ! That is how you do it. Talk about matchless variety and abundance, yet the modern church has failed to capitalise on what we have.

As we close this capsule let me leave you with this thought. By common observation it seems to me that people that have learnt to walk in the Blessings also enjoy the best of Miracles (I believe there is a valid scriptural reason for this). Take a close look, from Bible times to this present day . Learn to walk in the Blessings and Miracles will show up to fill the gaps when needed .

It is my earnest desire to hear from you, comments are always welcome. My intention as always is to cause a stirring and get my partners thinking. It is of utmost importance that you go through the scriptural references and find more. We would start looking at the application from next capsule.
